Built in the early part of the 20th century, the Miami art deco style is identified by design details that mimic ocean liners. Look for port hole circles and smoke stack accents.

Decorative towers or spires on the roof.

Window valences, called eyebrows, to protect interiors from our tropical sun.

The original structures were capped at three stories and featured a classic three section facade with the left and right sections shorter and the center section more prominent.

Look for glass block and curved designs. It’s all a way of bringing the outside in!

These brightly painted facades continue to be an easily recognizable symbol of Miami’s tropical playground history.
